Chapter 4: Eurathia

As they walked down the road, Cyril started looking around, taking in his surroundings. This is certainly not in Asgard nor any of the nine realms.

Based on his current memories, there is probably no knowledge of Asgard nor the Norse Pantheon Gods here either, so he decided it best for now to keep his knowledge and abilities of Loki a secret.

Perhaps being this being named Loki was all simply a vivid dream, and claiming it was real would make people think he was mad.

Memories of his life started to flow into his mind. They live near the town of Westhaven, a medium sized town and were headed there now. Westhaven was one of the many towns in the Kingdom of Erandelusia on the continent of Eurathia.

Erandelusia was one of the smaller human kingdoms at the far end of Eurathia, bordered by the Elven kingdom of Elanil, the free trade cities of Farside, and the vast oceans of the Eversea.

He name is Cyril Soulsong. He was the son of Bartholomew Soulsong and Jemina Bladesharp. His parents are performers, who regularly perform all over Erandelusia. His father is a singing bard of some renown in the region. His mother, before she married his father, was a travelling juggler and knife thrower with her family in a travelling circus. Now she travels with his father wherever he performs, and doubles as his bodyguard.

Both parents passed on their skills to Cyril. Although his singing was quite good, he could never control people's mood like his father could. His father could make people laugh, cry, feel like they're in love, or even rouse the audience into a angry mood. He was a master at manipulating his audience's emotions, which made him quite rich.

Cyril on the other hand had an arguably more beautiful voice. He can calm an angry mob, or enchant the audience to tears, making them feel in the most wonderful mood, and if he wanted to, make girls fall in love with him. However, he could not make people laugh, nor rouse a crowd to battle.

As for his mother's skills, he picked them up easily. Juggling and throwing knives and other weapons came easy to him. He even improved on her repertoire, mastering slight of hand, adding trickery to what his mother thought him.

His beautiful friend's full name is Kyra Silkweaver
, her family owns the famous silk trade in town. Her family has grown their own silk worms and made their own silk for generations, building a strong reputation for producing the finest silk on the continent. Merchants from all over come to purchase her family silk, and this made her family the richest in town.

Both families live outside town. The Silkweavers live on a large estate, with forests and caves, and the Moth Mountains in the backdrop. For generations, they've made use of the caves to raise their moths and harvest their silk, and they have a large factory and shop in town to weave and sell their silks. Visiting Kyra often since young, Cyril was familiar with the large Silkweaver estate, having many adventures there.

The Soulsongs had a charming cottage on the way to town from the Silkweavers. Cyril's father gets his inspiration sitting by the quiet brook behind the cottage. His mother had a throwing range, to keep her skills sharp, and to train Cyril when he was younger. Now, his skills are so sharp, he could hit the target throwing a dagger blindfolded with his feet.

They were walking to town to take a test, a test to see if they have the potential to become elemental Wizards. In Eurathia, the Wizards are one of the most respected professions as they supposedly have the highest level of mastery over their individual elements.

In Eurathia, everyone is born with the innate ability to weave an element. Only those that have high potential get chosen to enter Eurathia's famous StarRock Wizarding Academy, where they train the best elemental weavers to become wizards.

StarRock Academy held annual entrance tests in all the medium to large towns in the region for those who reached 16 years of age. This year, one of the tests was held at Westhaven, which was convenient for Cyril and Kyra as they had just both turned 16.

Besides joining StarRock, those with high potential were also recruited by the Elemental Battle Sects. The four major sects are Aura Aetheris Sect for Air Weavers, Ignis Incendium for Fire Weavers, Aqua Aequoris for water weavers and Terra Telluris for Earth Weavers. The sects trained only in their individual elements and specialized in battle elemental weaving. Their battle techniques are supposedly more advanced than those thought at StarRock

Those that have a lower potential use their abilities for more normal occupations. Many who use their elemental abilities as weapons become soldiers, mercenaries, guards. Some who are earth weavers are usually stronger than normal, and are good at work that require hard labour, and are good as builders or labourers. Those with decent fire weaving abilities become cooks, alchemists or blacksmiths.

Cyril's parents are both air weavers, with his father using the air to make melodious sounds accompanying his singing, and allowing his voice to carry to the furthest audience member. Cyril's mother on the other hand uses wind to speed up and enhance the penetration of her throwing daggers, or to change directions of her thrown daggers.

As they arrived, they saw a huge crowd of people. All of them were there to take the test, as it may change their destiny. As they approached the crowd, many eyes started staring at Cyril. Kyra was like an angel walking through them, they could not help looking at Cyril with envious eyes as he walked next to her.

As they approached closed to the stage where the test was to be held, a large stone pillar stood in the middle of the stage. An old wise looking man stood up and addressed the crowd. "Now all of you, I am sure are here to take the test. Only 16 years olds are allowed to take the test. State your name and age when you approach and place your hand firmly on the pillar. The colour will indicate which element you are innately suited with, red for fire, blue for water, yellow for earth and green for air. The brightness of the colour will determine whether you will be selected to StarRock Wizard Academy "

As they arrived among the latest, Cyril and Kyra took their place at the end of the line as they queued to take the test.
